Fabio J. Guzmán Ariza is the Senior Partner of the firm. He is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (B.S., 1973) and the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (LL.B., summa cum laude, 1981) where he headed his law class. Mr. Guzmán Ariza is a former Dean and Professor of Civil Law at the Law Faculty of the Universidad Católica Nordestana. He is presently a member of the Board of Trustees of the University. In 1987, he was elected Judge of the Disciplinary Committee of the College of Dominican Attorneys. He has published several books (The Procedure by Default in Civil and Commercial Matters, The Encomienda in Hispaniola and New Spain, Memoirs of a Small Town Lawyer) as well as numerous articles in leading legal journals. Mr. Guzmán Ariza also serves on a continuous basis as consultant to the Dominican Congress on bills related to his areas of expertise. As a law practitioner, Mr. Guzmán has in-depth experience in servicing the needs of the international investor in the Dominican Republic, especially in the areas of Real Estate Law, Hotel and Resort Development, Civil Law, Litigation, Estate Planning, and Business & Corporate Law. Mr. Guzmán is fluent in Spanish, English and French.
