Alfredo Guzmán Saladin, partner at Guzmán Ariza and member of PROMICHES, participated in the meeting held by the authorities of the Mayor’s Office of Miches, the Rivera del Yásica Corporation; PROMICHES, and the Ministry of Tourism to enable provisional access to La Ensenada beach in Miches. attending to the interest of the community to have access to the beach.

This measure will remain temporary, to provide the Ministry of Tourism with the opportunity to present the definitive alternative solutions for public access in the area, as stipulated in the framework of the Miches Tourism Territorial Planning Sector Plan (POTT) and in the Public-Private Agreement for the Tourism Development of Miches.

Pamela Benzán Arbaje, attorney at Guzmán Ariza and coordinator at the Mercantile Restructuring Observatory of the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and Production, led a meeting to setup a collaboration between the judiciary and the observatory in order to improve the efficiency of the mercantile restructuring system in the Dominican Republic.

The Center for Alternative Conflict Resolution (CRC), an entity attached to the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Puerto Plata, held the conference “Procedure and Management of the Arbitration Trial”, by Mr. Ismael Comprés, who is an arbitrator of the Centers of Alternative Dispute Resolution of the Chambers of Commerce and Production of Santiago and Santo Domingo, and member of the Arbitration Commission within the National Chapter of the International Chamber of Commerce.

Additionally, 11 new arbitrators were sworn in, pre-selected by the CRC’s management firm and approved by the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce, at its regular meeting on May 13 of this year.

Dr. Julio A. Brea Guzmán, president of the CRC, thanked the support he has received from the Santiago CRC, and from its president, with whom he is working on a project that allows arbitrators from Santiago and Puerto Plata to practice in both jurisdictions.

Our client SOPORTEX, advised by the lawyers Alfredo Guzmán, Leandro Corral, Cynthia Pérez and Dayanila Rivera, obtained the license to operate as the first service free zone company in Punta Cana, by the National Council of Export Free Zones (CNZFE).

The SOPORTEX operation will create more than 200 jobs in the area and will be dedicated to offering call center, telemarketing and data processing services, among others.

On the occasion of the latest Pan American Youth Games in Cali, Colombia our partner Rubén García was summoned by the Executive Committee of the Amateur Boxing Confederation of America (AMBC), in his capacity as president of the Dominican Boxing Federation, where he was asked to be president of the Court of Integrity or Discipline of that institution.

After consulting with the members of the Dominican Federation of Boxing, “we accept the honorable designation, which we consider to be an important step for boxing in our country.”

Within the framework of the activities at Fitur 2022, Alfredo Guzmán and Giselle Pérez paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Spain, where they met with Carmen Amelia Cedeño, Minister Counselor, and Ninotzka Torres, Political Attaché of the Embassy, to talk about the investment climate in the country and hand out copies of the Guide for Foreign Investors in the Dominican Republic published by Guzmán Ariza.
